16 Quotes To Inspire Hope And Growth

Finding ways to inspire hope these days can be difficult. On top of the current state of the world, many people are indulging in confirmation bias. Whether it’s due to the pandemic or general negativity, people can form these downward spirals.

These spirals where it feels like there is no hope. Or that maybe we’re all doomed. Confirmation bias can be cruel that way.

But while there will always be something bad happening in the world, there is a lot of good out there too. There is still progress in some ways. And one way that you can see that is through various quotes that inspire hope.

While I’m personally not someone who uses quotes constantly, I do recognize that there are many memorable ones. Quotes are incredibly powerful and can inspire hope, drive change on a small or grand scale, and more. Below are some of the quotes that remind us there is still hope out there.

What Is Hope

Before getting into inspiring hope, it’s important to look at how to describe hope. There is the literal sense of it, but over the years, many people described it in different ways. I’m always of the mind to be taking different opinions and views of people to get a better grasp of something.

As such, I’ve put together a handful of quotes from various people over the years that describe what hope is.

“Hope is the only universal liar who never loses his reputation for veracity.”– Robert G. Ingersoll

“Hope is that thing inside us that insists, despite all the evidence to the contrary, that something better awaits us if we have the courage to reach for it and to work for it and to fight for it.”– Barack Obama

“Hope is important because it can make the present moment less difficult to bear. If we believe that tomorrow will be better, we can bear a hardship today.”– Thich Nhat Hanh

“Hope is like a road in the country; there was never a road, but when many people walk on it, the road comes into existence.”– Lin Yutang

“Hope itself is a species of happiness, and, perhaps, the chief happiness which this world affords; but, like all other pleasures immoderately enjoyed, the excesses of hope must be expiated by pain.”– Samuel Johnson

Hope is more than the positive feeling or the ability to rise up to a challenge. Without a doubt, it’s an aspect that allows us to push forward and persist.

How Hope Is Used

Hope is used to create many wondrous thing in life. These things can impact us individually, from those around us, or around the world. Hope comes in various forms. Actions, questions, goals, and more. Hope is the conduit to a variety of things. It is one of the elements that can inspire us to take action and make changes to the status quo.

Even though there are problems in the world, there are good problems that we can tackle and grow from. It’s all a matter of perspective. Here are some other things that hope can be used for:

“Most of the important things in the world have been accomplished by people who have kept on trying when there seemed to be no hope at all.”– Dale Carnegie

“Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow. The important thing is not to stop questioning.”– Albert Einstein

“However bad life may seem, there is always something you can do and succeed at. Where there’s life, there’s hope.”– Stephen Hawking

“Once you choose hope, anything’s possible.” – Christopher Reeve

“Everything that is done in this world is done by hope.”– Martin Luther

“Hope is a renewable option: If you run out of it at the end of the day, you get to start over in the morning.”– Barbara Kingsolver

Inspire Hope That Empowers

Another aspect of hope is that it empowers you. As I said, it is a catalyst that sparks us into action amongst other things. It’s an empowering emotion and there are many quotes out there to help you feel empowered. Here is a sample:

“We must accept finite disappointment, but never lose infinite hope.” – Martin Luther King Jr

“May your choices reflect your hopes, not your fears.” – Nelson Mandela

“If we will be quiet and ready enough, we shall find compensation in every disappointment.” – Henry David Thoreau

“There is some good in this world, and it’s worth fighting for.” – J.R.R. Tolkien

“Find the seed at the bottom of your heart and bring forth a flower.” – Shigenori Kameoka

Inspire Hope In Your Life

Despite the many problems that we are facing off in the world, there is still plenty of hope. As always, it’s important for us to acknowledge the problems that we have in our lives and in the world at large. However that’s not an excuse to wallow in negativity. We can inspire hope in ourselves and inspire change in our lives as well. All that it requires from us is a desire to change, some goals to keep us on the path and our own actions to push us to follow through with our goals.

To your growth!
